Hello Cub Pack 375,

Friday evening we have an optional Den meeting at the Riverview Church. We will be building the rockets that we all recieved at the holiday party. If you want to build the rocket your self at home, or have done so already, not a problem. This den meeting is only for those who want to build it with the pack. Please remember to bring your rockets if you intend to build them. We will be launching our rockets at the Blue & Gold Picnic on Saturday.

For Friday’s rocket building, we need people to bring the following items:

newspaper to put down on the tables:
white  glue (elmers) and  crazy glue
a ruler
scissors
a utility knife
pencils

We don’t necessarily need every single person to bring every single thing but we do need a few of each to share. You should also bring your den workbook to the den meeting.

The Blue & Gold picnic will be held Saturday, March 27th from 10AM – 2PM at Newlin Grist Mill Park. You should have been contact by your den leader now on what to bring to the picnic.  Please arrive in FULL UNIFORMS, and bring a second outfit to change into. The event will be held rain or shine, so dress accordingly. The ground may be wet/muddy.

Newlin Grist Mill Park is located at:

219 South Cheyney Road
Glen Mills, PA 19342

Phone Number: (610)459-2359
Email Address:
info@newlingristmill.org

We are looking for donations/prizes to raffle off at the event. Please contact local businesses to see if they would like to donate items to be raffled off at the Blue & Gold Picnic. Sample items that were donated last year included: portable chair massager, die cast replica model cars, autographed sports memorabilia, gift certificates, wireless routers, vaccum cleaners, and more!  Please go and ask your local businesses to see if  they are willing to donate anything – all proceeds will go towards the pack to support our events and other pack costs.

Also – go check out our website www.dhcubpack375.org when you have a chance – we have just updated the theme to a spring time theme.

Hello Cub Pack 375!

Friday evening we will be having a den meeting at Hillcrest Elementary School at 7:30PM. Please try to arrive early as we will be starting promptly at 7:30PM. The new rules of no running around the gym prior/after the meetings are still in effect.

We will have a special visitor at the pack meeting from Friends of Scouting. They are part of a volunteer organization that helps with fundraising for the Cradle of Liberty Council, whom we are under. Please see the attached document for their information letter. They *will* be asking for monetary donations at the pack meeting. Please do not feel obligated to donate unless you want to.

Saturday will be our Scout Day at the National Constitution Center. It is from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM, try to arrive early so you can find parking, etc. You must be preregistered for this event. Scouts should come in full uniforms. Lunch is available for purchase at the center, or you may bring your own brown bag lunch. The cost is $12/adult.

And remember – the Blue & Gold picnic will be held next Saturday, March 27th from 10AM – 2PM at Newlin Grist Mill Park.

We are looking for donations/prizes to raffle off at the event. Please contact local businesses to see if they would like to donate items to be raffled off at the Blue & Gold Picnic. Hello Cub Pack 375,

The pine wood derby is being held this Saturday, February 13th at:

Cardington-Stonehurst Fire Company <– Click For Directions
350 Harrison Avenue
Upper Darby, PA 19082
610-352-1088

You should plan to arrive at 12PM for check in and car inspection. Racing will begin promptly at 1PM.  There will be pizza and juice available for all attendees after the event.

Friday’s den meeting will be the only meeting to finalize the cars before the race. You should try to install your weights and wheels prior to this meeting if possible. Otherwise there will be assistance to help you with these final procedures at Friday’s den meeting. I highly recommend trying to do it before hand, as you will have limited time on Friday evening, and there is no garuantee that Mr. G will be able to get to you to help with your car.

If you still have yet to CUT the shape of the car out, please contact Mr. Fuiman at (610) 996-0725 or rfuiman@wescott.com ASAP.

Please contact your Den Leaders if there are any questions. Den leaders contact e mails are listed at: http://www.dhcubpack375.org/?page_id=32

Hello Pack 375,

We just got word from Mr. Fuiman that the following events are being cancelled and rescheduled due to the pending snow storm.

* Friday, February 5th Den Meeting (TONIGHT)

* Saturday, February 6th Candy Sale @ Super Fresh

* Saturday, Februrary 6th Wings Lacross Game

The above events have been CANCELLED due to the pending snow storm. All of the above events will be RESCHEDULED – further notice will be sent out as we recieve the new schedule. The tickets that you have purchased for tomorrow night’s Wings Lacrosse game WILL BE VALID for the rescheduled game.

The pinewood derby is still ON SCHEDULE for Saturday, February 13th. Please continue to work on your cars at home during the week, as next Friday’s Den meeting will be the final chance to make any last minute changes.  Your car should be in a “raceable” condition when you bring to Friday’s den meeting (meaning all of the wheels are on and working, etc).   The purpose of Friday’s den meeting is to finalize the weight of the car, and other minor adjustments similiar.

We will TRY to setup a meeting during the week to help get the wheels/axles/weights on the car, but this will NOT be definite – so please work on the car at home yourself as much as possible.

****DEN LEADERS****

Attention Den Leaders: PLEASE CALL EACH MEMBER OF YOUR DEN ASAP to confirm the cancellations with them.

Enjoy the snow – and stay warm!

Hello Cub Pack 375!

This Friday’s den meeting will be geared towards building the pinewood derby cars as well. The goal is to get the wheels & weights on the car.

You must purchase the weights for your car yourself. We recommend purchasing the weight from Hobby Town USA. It is located at: 101 South Bishop Ave, right next to the Home Depot on Baltimore Pike in Secane. There will be a scale to weigh your car at the den meeting on Friday. Remember, if you decidde to paint, color, or add decals onto the car after weighing it, these items DO add weight to the car. The weights to purchase can be found at this link: http://tinyurl.com/ycpkl4u The 2oz to 3oz weight packs will be more than sufficient – no need to spend the extra money on the heavier weight packs.

The FINAL candy sale for this season will be on Saturday from 12PM – 5PM at the Super Fresh in Manoa Shopping Center. If you have not volunteered at a candy sale yet, please sign up at Friday’s den meeting for a 1 hour time slot.

Friday evening will be the Wings’ lacrosse game at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Money is DUE NOW if you still owe money. Please contact Sam Chiaffa at (610) 348-6569.  There will be a MEET & GREET with the Wings’ players BEFORE the game from 5:30-6:00PM. Please meet in the MAIN BOX office on the BROAD STREET side of the Wachovia Center at 5:15PM so that the meet & greet/Q&A can start promptly at 5:30PM.  If you plan on attending the meet & greet, please let us know by ***tomorrow morning*** so they can reserve your spot at the meet & greet.

ONE ticket is still available for the game if anyone has a friend that would like to come. The cost is $23. Please contact Sam Chiaffa at (610) 348-6569 if you are interested in the final ticket.

As Rich just mentioned, the Open Leaders & Parents meeting is rescheduled for tonight at 7PM at the Riverview Presbyterian Church, instead of tomorrow evening.

Since we will be working on the pinewood derby cars tomorrow
night and we don’t want to ruin any uniforms, scouts do not have to wear
their uniforms to the den meeting.

Thanks,
Rich

Hi All,

If anyone has a dremel w/attachment, would it be possible for you to bring it to and share it with the pack for the pinewood derby car building this Friday? It would be best if we could have a few dremels, so if you have more than one and are willing to bring it and let us use it, we would appreciate it.

Anyone with some basic wood working hand tools are encouraged to bring them as well, such as files, sanding blocks, etc.

We WILL have a scale available to weigh in the cars at this meeting.

Parents – a reminder – A PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST STAY WITH the scout while it is their den’s turn to use the power tools. Even though Mr. G will be operating the power tools himself, the parent/guardian MUST stay with the scout for safety reasons.

Please also have your scouts have their car design idea ready, and drawn on a peice of paper if possible so that we can efficiently cut the cars on Friday evening. This Friday is the ONLY den meeting where we will have use of the power band saw and power sanders.  If you are unable to make this, you will be responsible for cutting & shaping the car on your own. It is NOT mandatory to have your cars cut at this event. If you have access to the tools yourself, feel free to work on it on your own – but please ensure you follow the rules & regulations posted at:  http://www.pinewoodpro.com/pinewood-derby-cars-rules.htm

Here is a good link on the in’s & out’s of building a Pinewood Derby car for first timers: http://www.abc-pinewood-derby.com/design-pinewood-derby-car.htm

And here are some sample designs of completed pinewood derby cars: http://www.abc-pinewood-derby.com/pinewood-car-designs.htm

****There are still FOUR (4) extra tickets available for the Wings’ lacrosse game on February 6th, at 7PM at the Wachovia center.  If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact Mr. Chiaffa at 610-348-6569. Tickets are $23 a person, and includes a ticket to the game, a soda, a hot dog, and a patch for the scout (if applicable).****
