Since we will be working on the pinewood derby cars tomorrow
night and we don’t want to ruin any uniforms, scouts do not have to wear
their uniforms to the den meeting.
Thanks,
Rich

Hi All,
If anyone has a dremel w/attachment, would it be possible for you to bring it to and share it with the pack for the pinewood derby car building this Friday? It would be best if we could have a few dremels, so if you have more than one and are willing to bring it and let us use it, we would appreciate it.
Anyone with some basic wood working hand tools are encouraged to bring them as well, such as files, sanding blocks, etc.
We WILL have a scale available to weigh in the cars at this meeting.
Parents – a reminder – A PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST STAY WITH the scout while it is their den’s turn to use the power tools. Even though Mr. G will be operating the power tools himself, the parent/guardian MUST stay with the scout for safety reasons.
Please also have your scouts have their car design idea ready, and drawn on a peice of paper if possible so that we can efficiently cut the cars on Friday evening. This Friday is the ONLY den meeting where we will have use of the power band saw and power sanders. If you are unable to make this, you will be responsible for cutting & shaping the car on your own. It is NOT mandatory to have your cars cut at this event. If you have access to the tools yourself, feel free to work on it on your own – but please ensure you follow the rules & regulations posted at: http://www.pinewoodpro.com/pinewood-derby-cars-rules.htm

The next two den meetings will be used for building your pine wood derby cars. Please bring your pine wood derby cars that you recieved at the holiday party to the next two den meetings. On Friday, January 29th, Mr. G (last year’s packmaster) will be bringing a band saw and belt sander to help cut the general shape of the cars for everyone.
* Please have your scout come up with ideas for their car BEFORE Friday’s Den meeting. They should draw/sketch a sample design if possible.
* Each den will be called to the gym seperately to have their cars cut to shape. PARENTS MUST ACCOMPANY their scout to the gym. There WILL BE power tools in use, and everyone is responsible for their own safety!
* If you are unable to, or choose not to make this Friday’s den meeting, there will be NO OTHER opportunities to use the power tools provided by Mr. G. You will be responsible to cut and shape the car your self.

Hello All,
I contacted Cheng’s and set up a time for our pack.
It will be during our den meeting on March 5, 2010 at 7:30 pm.
However, he said that it would be more convenient for him and his team if we meet
at their West Chester Pike location. The address is 7416 West Chester Pike.
See you all soon!

Hi all – we’ve just added a bunch of great links under the Parents’ Resources section that relates to recycling, and energy conservation. Alot of the links are geared towards kids, and includes games, activities, and worksheets they can use. Please take some time and go through some of the links with your scouts – your scout will have a lot of fun, while learning about recycling and energy conservation at the same time.
Hello all,
A couple of important updates came out tonight’s Open Parents/Leader meeting.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU SHOW UP 15 MINUTES PRIOR. Anyone who shows up later than 15 minutes prior to their assigned time slot will NOT BE ALLOWED into the event – this is PER THE RULES OF THE ARCHERY SCHOOL.
